I'm unable to find it online, but there was an interesting story in today's Telegraph indicating that the new film/TV studio at Kurnell isn't the only one in the pipeline. There's another one at Lane Cove called Sunrise Studios and apparently one is being planned for the western suburbs too. Interesting, cos I never heard about this one at Lane Cove until I read the paper this morning and I can't find a damn thing about it on the Net. Of course, the real question is, what good will these studios be for local producers. Will actual Australian productions, particularly smaller users, get access to the studios, or will it only be the big overseas productions, thus leading to another period (like we're not already in it?) whereby actual homegrown productions are swamped by overseas imports. Keeping Australian workers in work on the latter is fine, but not when it's to the detriment of the former...
